Top 4 Seasonal Flowers for a Spring Wedding

Floral Inspiration

May 3, 2022

Spring is in the air! We can’t wait for the wedding season to start again and create beautiful floral designs for your big day! When it comes to choosing flowers for your bridal bouquet and decor, we know it can be confusing to know what is in season. Spring is such a beautiful time to get married in Michigan with warmer temperatures and longer days. Whether you are getting married at Saginaw Valley State University or the Frankenmuth Brewery, here are my recommendations for in-season and local flowers for your Michigan spring wedding!

Muscari for Spring Wedding

Muscari is a sweet and delicate flower. It blooms in white or blue. Their stem is often shorter in length, so we prefer to use them in floral designs for your reception. They have the lightest fragrance that adds the most romantic touch to spring weddings.

If you are looking for a traditional touch the Muscari flower is the perfect “something blue” to accent your color palette with blue hues.

Peony

Peonies are the perfect flowers for a spring wedding! They are not in bloom for long, so it is best to use them when they are in season!

Our Sweet Beets Floral garden and organic style play with peonies often! Peonies are the perfect addition to bouquets and reception floral designs. No matter your event location, from a ballroom, an outdoor private estate, or a city-chic affair, peonies complement every wedding style!

Their fluffy petals and sweet scent make peony blooms highly sought after for weddings and events. They come in various colors such as white, cream, yellow, blush, hot pink, coral, and even red which makes them versatile to match your color scheme!

Ranunculus

Oh, ranunculus! This is one of the most popular flowers in wedding and event floral design. Their high petal count gives them extra ruffles. I cannot think of one couple who didn’t request these for their wedding design!

While ranunculus is available year-round, we find that they are in their peak season in the spring. They’ve become available in a wide range of colors – from rich plum to the sweetest blush pink, to orange and bright yellow. Many couples looking for a classic, romantic and timeless flower seek out ranunculus!

Tulip – The Spring Wedding Flower

Tulips are the perfect addition to your spring wedding when you want a garden and organic floral design. Tulips are timeless and a true spring favorite. Tulips come in a variety of colors from classic white to yellow, pink, red, and purple. In recent years, we’ve even seen hybrid tulips such as parrot tulips, and dyed tulips that can be colored a mauve-brown or even light blue!

Tulips really make a spring wedding feel garden-inspired as here in Michigan they’re growing abundantly as soon as our weather warms! When we lean into seasonal blooms, we source locally grown tulips when we can.
